Traditionally, the arts are classified from 1st (architecture) to 11th (digital and interactive art). With the 12th Art, the HBJO universe is finally recognized as an autonomous artistic discipline, on a par with the other major arts.
The concept is promoted by CIBJO (World Jewellery Confederation), which brings together international players, major companies, and independent artisans.

A charter is currently being drafted. It will serve as an official plea for the inclusion of watchmaking, jewelry, and goldsmithing in the International Classification of Arts, in the prestigious 12th place.
To embody this movement, the distinctive brand name “12 Art” was created and registered with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) in July 2024.
It was designed to be a simple, universal, and memorable name, without any local abbreviations (“ème,” “th,” etc.).
All entities affiliated with the HBJO universe—houses, workshops, artisans, designers, schools—that adhere to the philosophy and charter of the 12th Art.
